Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt!
Starting tomorrow, there’s some sort of contest going on for Borderlands 2, probably timed to match up with the release of the Game of the Year edition. From what I can tell, the idea is that each day the guys at Gearbox will announce a target boss in the game. You log in, kill the boss and get entered into a drawing for FABULOUS PRIZES. The bosses will also drop special loot for that day. There’s also a pretty sweet sale on the base game right now over at Gamer’s Gate.
I’m a big fan of Borderlands 2, so I’m pretty pumped for this to start up. You can sign up for the contest at this special site (which includes a sweet Claptrap video): https://www.borderlands2loothunt.com/
As a side note, there are various deals on the base game around the net if you don’t want to take the plunge on the GOTY edition (though all the DLC is pretty well done, with Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt being the only one that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy). The GOTY edition includes the four “expansions,” two new playable characters, the Creature Slaughterdome mission and the first Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack. Of those, I’d say the four expansions (Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep) are definitely worth a purchase. The game is setup to be played through twice out of the box, and the Ultimate Vault Hunter pack(s) will unlock a 3rd playthrough that you can reset and do as many times as you’d like while also increasing the level cap.
If you’re on the fence, you can’t go wrong with a copy of the base game for $10 at Gamers Gate right now. The individual DLC’s go on sale often enough if you want to hold off on those.
