Borderlands 2: Getting past that $@#$% gate in The Mines of Avarice

I’ve been “stuck” on the the stupid gate in The Mines of Avarice TWICE in my time playing Borderlands 2 (I don’t have the best memory). I made this video so you can see how to get past it. It doesn’t open, but I can show you how to break on through to the other side!

Dungeon Defenders 2: First Defense Council Run

I’m a member of the Defense Council and I got to play Dungeon Defenders 2 (pre-alpha) for the first time the other day! This video covers some of the differences I noticed between Dungeon Defenders 1 and 2 while playing my first round ever. Enjoy!

Hearthstone – Poor Man’s Hunter Beast Deck (easy, common cards)

I found this deck over on HearthPwn and I’ve had a ton of luck with it. It’s a great deck for someone starting out – quite powerful but doesn’t use many (if any) rare or hard to get cards. Most of the cards will be things you have in your deck already, and any others can be crafted for a very low cost.

Borderlands 2: How to find and kill Jimmy Jenkins

Jimmy Jenkins drops great loot and is also a target for a badass challenge in Borderlands 2. He’s a rare spawn, but this video shows you a way to increase your odds of finding him while getting a nice bit of loot as well.

Survive the crushing platform puzzle in the Lair of Infinite Agony in Borderlands 2 every time!

Just posted a video to YouTube showing how to get through the crushing platform puzzle in the Lair of Infinite Agony in Borderlands 2. It’s actually pretty simple – just wait until all four platforms hit the top at roughly the same time (it’s ok if the second one hits a small bit before the first one) and then take off once the first one is down low enough. Here’s the video so you can see exactly what I’m talking about.

Hearthstone stuck at Checking for Updates…

Twice since I’ve been in the beta I’ve had an issue where Hearthstone wouldn’t start. Specifically, it’d get stuck on Checking for Updates. To fix this, I’ve done the following two steps:

I beat a game! XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Phew…  A sigh of relief. That was my first reaction upon seeing the game end with a double-tapped plasma rifle crit. It was quite a ride, but I’m not totally sure how I feel about it.

Second Impressions: Hearthstone

Since my last post about Hearthstone, I’ve played some more. “Some more” might be a little inaccurate – I’ve played quite a bit more. I’m happy to report that while it’s still dripping in World of Warcraft, it’s actually a pretty damn good collectible card game.

First Impressions: Hearthstone

Last night I received a magical email inviting me to participate in the Hearthstone beta test. I quickly signed in to the battle.net site and downloaded the new battle.net client. That small download didn’t work properly when I started it. A quick visit to the forums let me know that I needed to update either Starcrat 2 or World of Warcraft, which would update the battle.net files already on my machine, then run the Hearthstone installer. That seemed to work and I started the 1.3GB download of Hearthstone itself. It’s a beta, so I’m ok with that little hiccup.

Mass Effect’s (almost) Ending

Much has been said about the ending to Mass Effect 3. Some people hated it with the white hot fury of 10,000 suns, other people… uh… didn’t like it very much. Rarely have I seen anyone post that they liked it. That however, is not what I’m here to talk about. Instead, I want to discuss one of the most poignant (in my opinion) few minutes of a video game that I’ve ever experienced.
