The Souls games and how regular death encourages awesome level design
As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of the Souls games (Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2). These games are often regarded as hard, and to some extent that’s true. You’ll die when playing any Souls game, and you’ll do it a lot. It’s baked into the game’s core mechanics. It’s one of the defining traits of the series. It also encourages some of the best level design I’ve ever witnessed.

Dark Souls 2: Master of Miracles Achievement/Trophy Guide
There’s a bunch of Miracles in Dark Souls 2 – some of them you can find in the world, some you can buy from vendors, and some are a little more involved. The list below breaks the Miracles down into three categories: Those you purchase, those you can either purchase or find in the world, and those that require something special (covenant ranks, boss souls, etc).
Dark Souls 2: (Large) White Sign Soapstone
Yesterday I made a video of where to find the Small White Sign Soapstone and got a few messages asking about the full-sized one. This one isn’t in a treasure chest, but is given to you by an NPC in the same “zone” (the Forest of Fallen Giants). I’ll show you what you have to do to get Pate to give up the goods.
Dark Souls 2: How to beat The Last Giant
The Last Giant will probably be the first boss you face in Dark Souls 2. He’s not terribly difficult as long as you know his attack patterns. This video will walk you through what to watch for and how to defeat him relatively easily.
Dark Souls 2: Early Game/Beginner (slightly overpowered) Fire Weapon
Fairly early on in my playthrough of Dark Souls 2 I happened upon a mighty weapon – the Fire Longsword. You can find this in The Forest of Fallen Giants, and it made the rest of that area quite a bit easier for me. In this video I’ll walk you through how to get this weapon, and show any surprises or ambushes along the way.
Dark Souls 2: Small White Sign Soapstone
I missed the Small White Sign Soapstone the first time through the area where it’s hidden, so I made a quick video to show where it is. One thing to note – while you eventually get a key for the door to the room where it lives, you can also get through that door by attacking it three or four times. Here’s a quickie video to show you the spot.
